Ponds Forge International Swimming

I just received an email from a friend of mine who produced a couple of cool little shorts on the Canon 5D MkII, I havent used the system for video myself but I’m looking forward to it. I thought I would give the guys who produced it some shameless promotion which is thoroughly deserved, so here you go:

New Mamiya – 67mb RAW

Friday, March 20th, 2009

Just to give you the heads-up, Mamiya has added a new 33MP camera to its medium format D-SLR product line. The camera system is based on Mamiya’s 645AFD III camera body and the Leaf Aptus-II 7 digital camera back that produces Leaf RAW files which can be processed with several applications.

The DL33 has a 36x48mm sensor with a pixel pitch of 7.2 microns that is twice the size of full frame 35mm D-SLRs such as the Nikon D3X or Canon equiv. This gigantic sensor provides 12-stops of dynamic range, Mamiya state a max file size of 67MB in RAW.

The unit will be available soon for about £35,000, around $20,000 US.

Portrait

Friday, March 20th, 2009

If only I had a good photo of myself. While setting up this blog I kept thinking of a photo I could include of myself for a bit of fun if nothing else. The only pictures (of me) I seem to have involve my back (see About), my very small body walking into the distance (see home page) or the above. I found this semi-self portrait which was taken whilst laying on the cold city streets of Sheffield by a friend of mine who took the shot on his new kit.

I like to think it sums up a state of mind which we have all slipped into from time to time, hopefully we won’t be waiting long :p
